Infinity vs. Eternity

Single-channel video, Runtime: infinite

Infinity vs. Eternity was created for The Vestibule, a 5' x 40' x 12' gallery space within Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in Portland, Oregon. Disjecta curates this odd gem for site-sensitive works and special projects.

Infinity vs. Eternity
extends the space with a seamless film loop of a
n endless hallway. The claustrophobic symphony of beige and the grainy texture of the film are reminiscent of the ubiquitous surveillance cameras that pervade public space. The soundscape of footfall is punctuated by muffled sounds of unseen, singular dramas playing out behind closed doors. The exhibition space is further confused by shadows of figures abruptly seeming to pass through the light of the projector.
